GenAISA Partners in Kaunas to Advance Generative AI Skills Development Across Europe
Partners of the GenAISA (Generative AI Skills Academy) project gathered in Kaunas, Lithuania, on 16–17 June 2026 for the project's fourth transnational meeting. Hosted by project partners, the two-day event brought together representatives from academia, vocational education and training (VET), research organizations, and industry to review project progress, validate key outputs, and coordinate upcoming activities aimed at strengthening Generative AI skills across Europe.
Funded by the Erasmus+ programme, GenAISA seeks to address the growing demand for Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) competences by developing innovative educational resources, training methodologies, and skills recognition mechanisms that support learners, educators, and professionals in adapting to the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
During the first day of the meeting, partners focused on the advancement of the project's educational and training resources. Significant attention was dedicated to the Digital Skills Passport, the GenAISA Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and the Virtual World learning environment. Partners participated in hands-on testing activities, reviewing the courses from a learner's perspective and providing final feedback to ensure the quality, usability, and effectiveness of the learning experience.
A demonstration of the Virtual World platform showcased how immersive learning environments can enhance the acquisition of Generative AI skills and support innovative pedagogical approaches. Discussions also focused on the upcoming pilot implementation activities, including the presentation of the Teacher Handbook and a Train-the-Trainer session designed to equip educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to deliver GenAI-related training effectively.
The first day concluded with a dedicated session on impact, dissemination, and exploitation, during which partners reviewed strategies to maximize the visibility, sustainability, and long-term adoption of the project's results.
The second day focused on project management, quality assurance, and future planning. Partners reviewed progress on project deliverables, discussed upcoming milestones, and coordinated activities for the next six months. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring the timely completion of project outputs and preparing for the final stages of implementation.
The Quality Assurance, Risk Management, and Evaluation session provided an overview of ongoing monitoring activities and enabled partners to review the project's risk management framework, ensuring that project objectives continue to be achieved effectively and efficiently.
The meeting also included a review of the project calendar, upcoming deadlines, and future collaborative activities. Partners reaffirmed their commitment to delivering high-quality educational resources that contribute to the development of Generative AI competences and support Europe's digital transformation agenda.
The e-Business and User Experience Lab of the University of Peloponnese with Spiros Sirmakessis and Marios Katsis actively participated in the discussions and contributed to the evaluation of project outputs, pilot preparation activities, and dissemination planning. Through its involvement in GenAISA, the laboratory continues to support the development of innovative approaches for AI education, digital skills enhancement, and workforce preparedness.
As the project enters its final phases, the consortium remains focused on ensuring that GenAISA delivers sustainable, accessible, and impactful resources that help bridge the gap between emerging Generative AI technologies and the skills required by the European labour market.
