Exploring Industry 4.0 at CAL-TEK
C4T partners took advantage of their visit in University of Calabria. The second part of the visit was dedicated to an extensive tour and live demonstration at CAL-TEK, the advanced technological infrastructure of the University of Calabria focused on Industry 4.0 technologies, smart manufacturing, automation, and digital innovation.
Participants had the opportunity to observe first-hand how emerging technologies are being applied in modern industrial environments through a series of demonstrations and laboratory visits.
The CAL-TEK team presented innovative solutions and research activities related to:
• Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0,
• Digital Twins,
• Internet of Things (IoT),
• Artificial Intelligence applications,
• Robotics and Automation,
• Cyber-Physical Systems,
• Predictive Maintenance,
• Advanced Sensors and Data Analytics,
• Human-Machine Interaction technologies.
The demonstrations showcased how these technologies can support companies in increasing productivity, improving quality control, reducing operational costs, and accelerating their digital transformation journey.
Particular interest was generated by the practical examples illustrating how SMEs can adopt advanced technologies without requiring large-scale investments, an aspect that directly connects with the objectives of the C4T project and the needs identified among enterprises participating in the project’s pilot activities.
The visit also demonstrated the critical role that research infrastructures can play in helping businesses test innovative solutions before deployment, reducing risks and facilitating technology adoption.
